STIRRINGS
It's been a while since I've posted, so here's an update:
I am preparing for a couple releases that will hopefully be available shortly after the new year. First will be a two-song preview cassette from DYING, containing two tracks from their upcoming split LP with New Jersey's LESS LIFE (members of In First Person, Black Kites, Capacities, etc.). These Cassettes will be limited to 100 copies. I will be driving the van for Catharsis at their upcoming series of shows in January, and I will have them with me. If there are any left over after tour, they will be made available for general mail-order. Split release with Hydrogen Man Records.
I will have more info for the DYING / LESS LIFE split LP soon, stay tuned.

WASTELAND
At Ampere's 10 year anniversary show on May 13, no one was surprised when Ampere blew the fucking roof off with their set. For ten years, we have come to expect nothing less from them, and they've consistently delivered. People were surprised, however, when Wasteland took the stage, and tore all of our faces a new asshole, playing what may have been the most crushing and furious hardcore set I've seen in years. They were completely devastating. Since they hadn't been a band in four years or so, this was all the more impressive. I wish i could see them do it again.
Wasteland's hitherto unreleased LP has been circulated in MP3 form for several years, and has always been one of my most cited hardcore tragedies; a fantastic record consigned to obscurity because of the band's untimely breakup. I cannot express my surprise when I arrived at the show to see a stack of Wasteland LP's on their merch table. Will Killingsworth was good enough to release the LP on his label, Clean Plate in time for Wasteland's one-off reunion show, and I couldn't be happier to see it.
For those of you unfamiliar, Wasteland was a Western Mass. band that was most active five or six years ago. They developed a distinct and compelling style that, to my ear, seems to mix a fair amount of screamo, d-beats and more than a little heavy Canadian hc style into one imposing monster of a band. They released one four-song EP and had two tracks on the coveted Ampere / Death to Tyrants / Daniel Striped Tiger / Wasteland split 11''. Members have since been involved in bands such as Aerosols, Soul Control, Relics, Suburbanite, Won't Belong, etc, etc, etc.
If you are interested in owning a copy of your very own, hit up the Endless Disaster webstore .

Hydrogen Man Records
The good-looking man in the center of this photo is Andrew Mcquiston. He is pictured here playing bass in a Philadelphia band called HIGHTIDE HOTEL, and he is also my bandmate in DYING.
In addition to both of these things, Andrew is also the man behind Hydrogen Man Records , a small label and distro here in Philly. He has been lucky enough to put out vinyl releases from some of our favorite bands here on the east coast, including SWALLOWED UP and BLACK KITES, as well as being my partner in releasing all of DYING's material. I have seldom met someone with such good taste in releases, as well as a keen eye for powerful aesthetic on top of being a kind and sweet person. He has really nice hair, too.
If you have the time, check out some of his releases. He only does good ones.

In other news, the new, as yet untitled demo CS from new Philly vegan straight-edge outfit, DYING should be out in a little under two weeks (split release with fellow Philly record label Hydrogen Man).
